Pantec Completes Acquisition of Piezo Motor Business

Pantec Engineering AG, Liechtenstein, announced today that it has successfully closed the transaction to acquire Elliptec Resonant AG, a German manufacturer of resonant piezoelectric actuators.


Ruggell, Liechtenstein, January 30, 2014 – the acquired, german-based Elliptec Resonant AG is the market leader in the developing and manufacturing of highly-dynamic, high-precision piezoelectric motors and actuators for many different applications.

The acquisition of this Piezo motor business will provide Pantec with direct access to leading technologies and core competencies in the field of Piezo actuators, an area of high strategic importance for the company.

The motors are a useful and valuable addition to the existing 3mikron™ and fam™ laser modules (e.g. for beam deflection units, zoom devices) as well as to Pantec’s drive platform DriCon™ and are also available as single product for applications where small, lightweight, inexpensive and highly-dynamic motors are needed. The low power consuming motors are of special value to handheld or autonomous devices such as robots.

The corporate name Elliptec Resonant AG will be changed into Pantec GmbH and integrated into the German subsidiary Pantec GmbH Germany. The motors will be marketed through Pantec’s Business Unit “Dynamics”.  The product brand name “Elliptec Motors” will be kept and strengthened. Both sides have agreed to maintain confidentiality regarding the purchase price.
